If you are hoping to partner with a University that UCD does not have an agreement signed with us (Memorandum of Understanding/ Memorandum of Agreement) the following steps can be followed:
Check if UCD has an existing partnership with the University via Rowan (UCD’s Global Partnership database).
A PDARF1 form (new partnership proposal form), signed by the Head of School / College Principal and College Finance Manager, must be completed and submitted to the relevant School and College committees. The information captured in this form assists both parties in clarifying the nature and future potential of the partnership. PDARF1 also requires proposers to outline in detail how the proposed partnership fits with the School and College's Strategic Plans.
Normally when signing with a new university partner the first agreement that is signed is a Memorandum of Understanding. This is a non legally-binding agreement that sets out the intentions of both institutions. At this stage, the agreement type can be agreed with the prospective partner. UCD has a pre-approved template for an MoU that you can access here. If you receive a template from a partner university UCD Global can assist with liaising with UCD legal to check the content.
The signed PDARF1 and the draft agreement can then be submitted to the University Global Engagement group for strategic approval (UMT GEG) accompanied by a Global Engagement Submission Form College Vice-Principals for International sponsor all UMT GEG submissions. Pending endorsement this submission is then submitted to the University Management Team (UMT) for final approval. The agreement is signed by UCD's delegated signatory, the UCD President.
It is recommended that a formal review of partnership agreements take place annually. Support for this activity will be provided by the Global Relations & Partnerships team and conducted in partnership with Colleges.
